Australian Idol 6, Final 7: Motown, Get Ready!
October 20th 2008 06:51
On Sunday, I had to work somewhere far from where I live, so I didn't have the chance to recap the show. But I did watch the performances on the official website, so here's my ranking and a very brief recap.
My ranking:
1. Roshani Priddis - singing Diana Ross - Reflections. This was supposed to be her night, but unfortunately not. But I need to point out her strength. When she gets pitchy, she doesn't look nervous or unconvinced. She doesn't lose an ounce of confidence.
2. Sophie Patterson - singing Papa Was A Rolling Stone. This was definitely her best vocal performance, nothing shaky, less moans. But she's still a statue on the stage.
3. Wes Carr - singing If I Were A Carpenter. He's been plateauing, been giving the similar kind of performances week after week, until tonight. Although, it wasn't a huge difference yet.
4. Chrislyn Hamilton - singing Get Ready by the Temptations. She got a TOUCHDOWN, undeservedly. It could have been more exciting, especially from someone like her. The stage presence was actually too tame.
5. Teale Jakubenko - singing Ain't No Mountain High Enough. Definitely an overdone song, which is good in getting people recognise the song straight away and vote for you, which means no wow factor.
6. Mark Spano - singing You Keep Me Hanging On by Diana Ross. I don't think he and the theme fit well together. I ended up laughing at his performance instead, him doing a motown dance. It wasn't a disaster, but definitely not we would love to see over and over in his concert.
7. Luke Dickens - singing My Girl. 6 or 7 weeks past, I still don't get how people really think he's incredibly talented. He's not even unique, but people say so just because he's the only country / aussie rock singer in the competition. The motown performance was boring too.
Unfortunately, I think Roshani is going.
For anyone who missed Thanh Bui's elimination last week::
